50 lb loss comparison pics.

Posting a comparison pic here. It's a bit old being as I've been stuck in the 250's for awhile, but I wanted to document this here.

I'm hoping soon I will have a pic of 60 lbs down and beyond. :D

Totals: Cal: 1873 Protein: 27.8% Carbs: 46% Fat: 26.2%

So I found reasonably low calorie snack that I REALLY like. I thought I’d share:
1 Pepperidge Farm Deli Flat
1/2 C fresh strawberries halved or quartered (depending on the size of a strawberry)
1 wedge of Laughing Cow Creamy Swiss Wedge
toast the Deli Flat, spread the Swiss on both halves of the Deli Flat, Spread strawberries over both halves of deli flat. Consume. :D
Calories: 196 Protein: 9g Carbs: 31.1g Fat: 5.4g

If you need a smaller snack it’s pretty easy to just toast half of the deli flat & only use half the strawberries & half the Swiss. Jer thought I’d put cream cheese on the Deli Flat instead of a 50 calorie cheese swiss wedge lol. It was better than he thought it was going to be. :D

Also I’m finding an oddity in my BodyMedia. I walk every day to help keep me stretched out, and to get me out of the office for a bit. I get a bit stir-crazy. So I noticed that walking seems to be more consistent and not ‘that’ far off the calorie burn for my kickboxing class.. but let me tell you.. the effort expended in the kickboxing class to me feels a LOT higher. I’m sweating, trying to remember how to breathe etc. I’ve added a screenshot from yesterdays walking & kickboxing class to illustrate the difference. The big difference I guess is I get vigorous workouts in with the kickboxing where as walking is only moderate. With kickboxing I’m usually dripping sweat all over the place. With
walking I don’t normally sweat much until I stop moving.

Anyway yesterday was a successful day. We got through work, cravings, and class without messing up. I did the entire kickboxing class this time instead of having to go sit by the wall in order to catch my breath/avoid passing out. I am having fun, it is hard, and I know I keep saying this, but I totally think this is going to be worth it.

I also think at "some" point on Saturday I need to practice my combinations. Jab, Cross, Hook, Step, Kick type stuff. I think if I can get it down better I can do it faster in class. I'm glad I have the free standing bag at home. It's the same kind they use in class... only shorter. For my purposes though it'll work fantastic for practicing. Sunday I will be doing NOTHING. there will be no exercise planned. There will be nothing probably particularly extrenious planned. Heck if I want to stay in bed all day I may... I probably won't though.

Lets talk about something a little wierd now though. I am not drinking soda, I'm drinking a ton of water, I haven't touched fast food since Monday. But I've been sleeping better in the last couple of days (Tues & Wed for sure), and waking up with more energy. It's not quite such a chore to get my butt out of bed in the morning either. I hope this keeps up. I know it's a bit too soon to be making such assumptions, BUT I'll take it while I can, and hope it keeps up.

HW: 310
LW: 255
CW: 255 (0)
GW: 155

ARGG!  VERY annoyed. I was almost down into the 253's on Saturday... but Sunday I pop back up to 255. I busted my butt last week.. soo needless to say I'm a bit irked. BUT I will keep moving forward. I am realy hoping that maybe this farrells thing will kick my butt out of this slump I'm in.
Seriously though I'm very much reconsidering my weigh in on Sunday thing.  Saturday is where EVERYONE visits, we tend to go out with friends, and even if I'm not bad it's still probably a lot of sodium.  I was just going to move my free day to Sunday... but seriously... ppl don't do much on Sunday.
It will be a big change, but one I think I may need.

Anyway here's to moving on forward.  For now I'm going to keep doing what I need to do and I know I'll eventually see results... even if they aren't on the schedule I'd like them on.

Hello World

I have decided to start a blogger blog to go along wiht my LJ blog and my rampant YouTube vlogging.

I have done this to keep focus and meet new people.  While I adore some of the communities on LJ it seems to be not so slowly dying.  This makes me sad, but I guess that's life.

In addition I like some of the clean designs and styles that blogger offers.

So a little about me.

I am a geek by nature, overweight, lazy by design, and trying to cure the last two... I'm perfectly happy as a geek tyvm.

February 2010 I started a journey to lose weight and get healthy via a lifestyle change.  My start weight had balooned to 310 pounds. I took start pictures shortly after I started this insane journey and when I saw them I bawled.  My mental image and the lady I saw in the picture were two completely different things.  I was devistated.  I mean I "knew" I was out of shape and overweight, but man those pics hit me hard. I had spent so much time avoiding the camera it had become second nature.

So  I re-joined the LJ group 100pounds2lose (which I love btw), and  started blogging like mad.

In Sept 2010 I decided to start vlogging my journey as well. I decided I needed to have a visual moving representation of my journey.  I thought it would be great for posterity.  I still do.

I still blog on LJ regularly, and have started a 365 vlog project on youtube.

This lifestyle change thing isn't easy.  In fact I'd say there are times I wonder wht the heck I'm doing, but in the long run I know this is  the best option.

So the goal is to lose 155 lbs.  That is literally half my starting weight, and will put me into the high end of a normal BMI.

So how far have I gotten in a year?

My current weight is 255.  That means that I've lost 55 lbs in a little over a year.  Not great, not bad, and more or less right on target.  My 2011 goal is to lose another 50.  I'm not shooting for a fast dump of weight. I am looking for sustainable life changes that will end in me changing more or less absolutely nohting when I get my goal weight.

Now, that doesn't mean I don't use conventional assistance or programs along the way.  I started with sparkpeole.com  I love that site.  They have an absolutely excellent community too.  However, since most of my posts were vlogs it just wasn't as easy to upload,  and I kind of stopped using it to track calories when I got my BodyMedia (more or less a BodyBugg).  I love my little nerd device. I love that it tells me how much effort I've put in, how many steps, and how many calories I have burned in a day.  I also did Weight Watchers Points Plus for about 3 months.  I really liked the program, but per the recommendation of a co-worker I'm going to be starting the Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping 10 week experience here at the end of March.  They have their own nutrition program that does nto include counting calories, but does have specific requirements. SOOOO I'm at least temporarily giving up WW for Farrell's.  After the 10 week program I may go back unless the Farrell's thing is working perfectly.

I'm hopng to like the Farrell's thing because it's 3 days of cardio kickboxing and 3 days of resistance strength training.  I def could more str training.   I 'know' I should do it now... but for some reason I gravitate to cardio.

I am also hoping I love it because I think kickboxing sounds like a heckova lot of fun.  I got a freestanding wavemaster kickboxing thing for my birthday and I love it.  There is something very great for stress and anger managment about beating the crap out of a punching bag. And if I can get into the routine and like the program they have a maintenance program that is more or less the same as the 10 week program with less babysitting from them.

I am engaged to a sweet man, and am the proud owner of two greyhounds and an evil but insanely cute cat.

So tht's me, and that's what my major goal is.

So I say, hello world.
